Just adding a +1 to both posts above (i.e. +2?)

I think it makes sense to do the lessons at roughly the rate you are likely to fly after gaining your PPL. If you do your course in a wild burst of enthusiasm over 3 months and then fly 2 hours every month afterwards, everything you do after your skills test will seem like an anticlimax. :shock:

As has been said, the licence is not the end of anything... you will solo long before it and continue to make mistakes for a long time after obtaining it. It is just (in hindsight) a relatively insignificant marker on your way to becoming a competent pilot - there is no more reason to rush the licence than there is to rush your first grass landing, your first GAR submission or your first overnight flyaway. In fact, the Skills test is not even a 'first' anything...
So enjoy the process for what it is, don't feel the need to rush for the piece of paper. :thumright:
