That is too dreadful a thing to suggest even in jest. There are maniacs who leave anti freeze out to poison cats horribly.

Why would dot5 silicone (not silicon) have a short life? Never heard that suggested before. Quite a lot of people do use it in aircraft to overcome any compatibility problems with different types of seal. Horrible stuff, like any silicone it is very difficult to remove all trace of it if it gets in the wrong place, but it does seve a purpose.
