We unfortunately need to replace the cylinders on our engine, and whilst the kits were available last week, they were snapped up whilst we were assembling funds and there is now a 60-90 day lead-time from the States.

Kit p/n '05K29652 Kit-Cyl Piston & Ring Assy Lycoming'

A long shot I know, but before I pull the trigger on an order in the next day or so, I don't suppose anybody knows of anywhere in the UK that does have 4 kits in stock?

We'd quite like to make it to the LAA Rally if we can!

Assembling funds..... :pale:

Try Yorkshire Light (Multiflight).
Nicholas McClaren? Norvic?
Or https://www.airpowerinc.com/ in the USA

Or https://poplargroveairmotive.com/ in the USA

Or try contacting Textron directly? By phone on Monday. Sometimes a direct telephone approach works, even if only to learn from them who has them in stock somewhere in the US.

What's the problem(s) with your present ones? Can they be overhauled, or not worth the time/effort/risk/cost?

Thanks Rob. Usual UK sources all checked with no current stock. Will call around as you (and PMs - thanks) suggest.

We have a source via Airparts, but that's with the lead time issue.

Cylinders are quite a way out of spec and high hours so Inspector's recommendation is to replace, which we plan to do ASAP.

Air Power has Superior cylinders in stock:

Shipping only takes a few days normally via FedEx.

Plan on a few hours rework/fettling even factory new Lycoming/Superior cylinders - they’re very rarely just bolt on. Ring gaps need setting, the valves will often need lapping, we’ve even had to recut seats and re hone valve guides to get everything running concentric and square. Time spent doing this will pay dividends in reliability and longevity.

Kits don’t include piston pins/plugs or rocker arms. If you’ve worn the cylinders out, chances are you’ll need pins and certainly plugs. If the rocker arms need re bushing that’s an engine shop/special tool job.
