Having read the previous thread about Ethanol, Esso was stating that it's super-duper fuel was, indeed, Ethanol -free. I made a special trip to buy 4 litres for chainsaw/hedge-trimmer....... Now I see that N.W. has been sneaked into the "contains ethanol" cabal. Having seen it's (Ethanol's) destructive effects on a classic motorbike. I feel I've been had-over. No publicity, no advance-warning. Could it have any connection with the closure of more than one refinery in the past couple of years?

Lobstaboy: I totally did not think of that.
The weather was ideal for ice formation and the delay before it appeared (melted) would make sense.

To be fair I've never had any hint of carb ice when flying, but I understand that small Continentals can make ice : and I was parked on cold wet grass.

If I can reproduce the event, I will either catch some and set it on fire or drink it I guess.
