On the LAA night/IFR thread, it mentions the LAA has a minimum loading requirement of 60 kg/m2.

What is the reason for this? Is there also a maximum?

I thought things with a high wing loading were more likely to fall out of the sky.

It improves the gust response and makes it easier to fly in turbulence, especially on instruments.

Anyway, yes, a high wing loading makes things less upsettable in bumpy conditions.

You could see this at a windy Sandown today where the Eurostars and C42s were having a bit more of a struggle than Pups and Bulldogs.
