Thanks for all the feedback.
I had a bit of a go myself at exploring the corners of the envelope on Saturday afternoon.
Buffet sets in in a slowing turn at about 45 kts indicated and then a very heavy rate of sink develops in a sort of "falling inwards" sideslip.
Ailerons remained effective, but I was pretty cautious as they will move to a massive angle relative to the wing.
I am reliably informed that this model(D117) never had stops so it's possible to overdo the angle and end up with one aileron and one spoiler. Nothing good happens then, I assume.
So, recovery was some aileron and a bit of rudder ( guesswork and muscle memory to be frank) followed by some throttle sharpish and pitch level.
Sounds like I'm trying to be a test pilot? No, just carefully finding out what might happen in a gust when turning onto final.
Yours might be totally different!
