Stopped here for fuel because we couldnt get fuel at Carcassonne.

Classic small french airfield with hard runway open on week-ends and when club members are around, french only on the radio.

We phoned the club before departure and got a message box. So as we flew overhead on the way to Carcassone we looked for signs of activity and heard one aeroplane in the circuit and saw hangars open so decided to land. FI and a couple of club members in the standard french aeroclub style clubhouse sold us some fuel for cash or a french cheque.

Fuel was 2.35 Euros/Ltr.
Landing fee = What landing fee, this is France!!

Friendly people/club & Gustave (dog) friendly too!!

Regards, SD..

Dropped in for the Fete du Cassoulet last weekend, all very friendly and easy, despite 40 odd aircraft turning up in the hour before (and the majority departing in a very short time after!). 30 min walk into the village which was obviously rather busy for the festivities, but looks like it is probably worth a visit in its own right.

Cassoulet at the airport was better than the one in town though (twice in a day! that's the ozone taken care of), although the village had the benefit of Alsacien beer, the airport had Minervois. Camped overnight on the field near the fuel pumps without too much noise from the adjacent road until the morning.

No landing fee, no PPR, no hi-vis - great!

(and for the sake of search, it is Castelnaudary)
