Badly damaged during WWII, the old city center of Dresden is now largely rebuilt. Its airport is fairly big, but we felt right at home and welcome with our Cessnas and Piper Cherokees. Follow-me car and the ride to the terminal were expedited very quickly, and when we left the next day it was easy as well. We would have wanted free WiFi, but otherwise it was great. Landing fee and one night parking cost 30 EUR. Considering the service (given with a smile), I'd say that's better than reasonable.

When approaching the CTR under VFR, ATC will want you below the TMA so you'll need to stay at 2,500 ft. The TMA is handled by the very busy Munich Radar, so keep clear and speak to first Munich Information and then Dreseden Tower. The reporting points we used (TANGO when entering, ECHO when leaving) were easy to find even though we'd never been there before.
