At Ostend, bus transport into the town centre is the cheapest and most efficient option. The bus runs circa every 20 mins, but you can get an up-to-date timetable on the bus company's website

You can set the parameters similar to the below to get your results. Reverse the address settings to get the bus timetable for the route back to the airport:

Anyone got any more recent information about landing fees at EBOS? I heard some rumours that recently they have significantly increased.

I went there last weekend.

I found it to be a super friendly airport and no hassle whatsoever. I'd filed DVR-KONAN-KOK on the way in. On approach to the coast, I was told to descend to 2,000 feet and follow the coast for a straight in to 08. Shortly after, another descent to 1,000 and cleared to final, which is almost the same alignment as the coast. Only a slight right turn required. Cleared to land at 2 miles! BIG airport which you can see from far away. Very easy.

Upon arrival, I was given clear and helpful taxi instructions to the GA parking area. Did as told and on the way I met a follow-me vehicle who led me then marshalled me to the spot. He patiently waited while we unloaded (too many) bags and drove us straight to the Navigation Office. There, I was shown where I could get a briefing and use the computers for the return trip. I was given three self complete boarding cards. All you write is name, date and aircraft reg and save them for Security on your return.

The Nav office sorted my taxi for me. Previous comments about the bus noted, but we had bags and small child in tow so went for the easy option. About €18 to town - use the bus if you can.

We were then taken in the car a to the terminal, which was only another 200 metres. A quick passport check and then shown to our waiting taxi by the passport policeman. It was all very quick.

On the way back the next day, we presented ourselves to Security at their one and only gate. Easy to find, there's a Yellow "C" sign which is pretty obvious. Through the "crew" channel. Bags were security scanned and we had to walk the arch, but none of that shoes off nonsense or anything. Passports were checked again and we were shown to the apron and left to walk (unescorted) the 200 metres to the Navigation office.

After checking weather/NOTAM, it was time for the fee. €56 for a PA28. Me plus two passengers and one night's parking. It's €10 landing, €10 take off, €10 per passenger (not crew) and €12 for the parking. All plus Belgian VAT at 21% - except the €10/passenger bit, which is tax free. Steep I think, but not too frightening.

The follow me vehicle was then summoned and we were driven back to the aircraft with no delay.

Departure was as friendly as arrival. ATC made it as easy as possible. A pleasant weekend trip and pretty good for a day trip too I'd say. 90 minutes there against the wind from Biggin and 71 mins back with the tailwind in a Warrior.

Hi

Can someone confirm the PPR and prior Customs notification requirements at Ostend? Hopefully off there tomorrow (13th August).

Cheers

Went to EBOS yesterday for the first time in a couple of years. Had to orbit to the south for 5 mins while they got a freight 747 in, then a very helpful marshaller and ride to immigration. Very quickly through and straight onto a no. 5 bus to the station (EUR 1.60). Return train to Brugge (every 30 mins) was EUR 8.80 and takes about 12 minutes, another short bus ride and we were in the centre of Brugge about a hour after landing! Not bad for a Sunday.

Lunch and a stroll around in Brugge in the sunshine was great.

On the way back we went to the advertised platform at Brugge station for our train, but it never arrived, and announcements were only in Flemish, so I suspect there was a platform alteration and we missed it. As time was getting on (nearing 7pm local) we decided to get a taxi from Brugge back to EBOS. About 25 mins, which was good but.......EUR 87!! :o :( Note to self - stick to the train next time.

Parking is free for 6 hours at EBOS, we were less than that and total fees were EUR 48 for 2 people and an Archer. Overall I think the cheap public transport (compared with the taxi at e.g. Deauville) makes EBOS a reasonable option. Next time I'll wait for the train back...

Flew in and out yesterday 28/08/2012. Very easy and helpful airport, good ATC link up with Koksijde and Lille. For a PA28 with 2 pax - 10 euros to land, 10 to depart and 10 for passengers. 34.20 euros total including tax. Take the no. 6 bus from outside the terminal into Ostend for just 2 euros each. Runs every 10 - 15 mins and takes about the same. Recommended!

Flew into EBOS for the May bank holiday weekend. Stayed one night. 48 Euros for two people and one night's tie-down plus airport fees. Very easy airport.

We took the no 6 bus to the train station (2 Euros) and the train to Bruges. Very easy trip. Recommend it for first-timers across the channel.

Nipped in today, would echo all the above re the helpful and friendly staff and it's a shame there's almost no commercial traffic. I paid mid 30's euro for a pa28 and 1 pax, not there long enough for the parking fee to kick in.

Be aware that there is no cash machine in the airport or nearby. I left my euro stash in the car at Biggin  Luckily the policemen had a whip round for the bus fare to get me into Ostend town and an ATM.

Coming back there is no WiFi in the ops room, so no easy skydemon flight plan submission. The PCs internet connection was also dead, so ended up calling Brussels who entered the plan for me.

I'll be back again soon, but with my euro piggy bank next time and I'll file my flight plan from a cafe in Bruges with WiFi!!

PS the airport is soon going to be managed privately, so hopefully the private sector can attract the traffic that the facilities and staff deserve.

Let's hope that the change of management doesn't herald a price rise.

The staff seemed hopeful that it was a positive move, so fingers crossed.
