Turning up at Le Touquet without notification is a very selfish and silly thing to do. It just takes a few idiots to spoil it for the rest of us. We could end up with a longer notification period and more frequent checks.

Would those pilots return to the UK without submitting a GAR?

As to how much trouble you can get into: Have you ever seen customs officers search an aircraft for contraband? When they've finished it takes time to ascertain if it is still airworthy.
