Actually in Teesside not Durham (that's marketing for you).
GA friendly airfield with friendly ATC. All the navaids you need, inc ILS, DME, NDB and SRA.

From 1st April 2010, the following charges will apply.

Landing fees - £8.33 per half tonne.
Handling - £25 per visit, training flights £10, 7am to 7pm. Outside of these hours standard handling charges apply. Please contact Weston Aviation on 01325 337733 giving as much notice as possible.

Anyone needing info on the area, drop me a PM with your requirements. If I'm around I can assist with transport.
If you need overnight hangarage rather than park outside, drop me a PM.

Colin G

Charges updated 23/3/10

Now a requirement to have handling, which could be a good thing as when I did my QXC there prior to this requirement I ended up wandering between the 737's and knocking on windows to get inside, pay my landing fee at the 'Customer Services' desk and then go through the entire security malarky into the departure lounge to have some escort me airside again. Oh yes, and don't call them Teeside on the radio, they don't like it. But, yes the ATC seem friendly.

Do any Pax on board have to pay the 'PFF' (Passenger facility Charge) of £6.00?

Only if it's a commercial flight. i.e. A chartered flight.
Private flights do not attract the charge.

I flew there last weekend in a 1.6t P32R. Handling consisted of a minibus to and from the stand (stand 13) and the pre-booking of a Hertz hire car which we were able to pick up and drop off directly at the Weston office.

Handling was £20 as others have reported. I don't begrudge them a penny of it. I've used Weston in most of their locations and the people have been uniformly helpful, friendly and on-the-ball.

I take the view that if you're going to land at a proper airport with day/night IFR capability, security and facilities like hire cars, then that kind of price is small-change to pay for it all.

Absolutely. I dont mind paying for receiving a product I need. Its all about the value of the overall product/experience.

Durham Airport have very recently directly taken over handling from Weston, using the same facilities and most of the same staff to provide pretty much the same service at the same price.

The new operation is branded as Consort Aviation 01325 331049 ops@consortaviation.com

Landing fee and handling for a PA28 was around £35 to £40 for a short stay. Parking charges apply after 2 hours. Instrument approaches and full radar service available.

After landing, we were directed to park on a number stand. A minivan drove to pick us up and take us the 300 yards or so to the main gate where we walked through to the executive lounge. This is undergoing refurbishment at the moment and was quite pleasant with new coffee machine, tea, cold drinks and free Wi-Fi available.
