What is the MSA?

Scud running strictly something that I leave to others.
You make a fair enough point. Scud running can be somewhat silly. Management of position and altitude is very important when visibility is poor. At the same time, many airfields do have known and accepted practices for familiar local traffic returning in marginal, but legal, visibility. Following well understood line features is often an important part of that.

Not quite the same as a contact approach, but basically the same concept.
