We're looking to start an up to 20 member tailwheel group at Prestwick Flying Flub, aiming at affordable flying to the many small strips around Scotland.
Plan is to buy a fairly cheap 2 seat Permit to Fly aircraft (perhaps Jodel), hanger and do own maintenance (etc) to keep costs down, but build funds so no cash calls required.
Open to new PPLs (tailwheel instruction available) with all expected to help with running the group as to their own skills.
We have someone to loan startup funds for the hanger so budgeted plan is:
First 2 years, a share will cost £2500.
Money from first 10 people buys an aircraft, money from subsequent 10 pays off the hanger loan or goes into group funds, depending on numbers.
Fixed costs per month of £37.50 (if 20 members) to £75 (if 10 members)
Variable costs covered by £60 per hour (airboune time + 5min) wet.
Aircraft would be wholly owned and run by the group (you would need to become an LAA member as it would be a permit, and a Prestwick Flying Club member for airside access).
We are looking for commitments now, so we can find a suitable aircraft - Email scottishtailwheel at outlook.com if interested (or I can pass on a message).
