More addictive than crack cocaine and Adrian is a good instructor! However - you might be better long term doing your initial instruction in something like a Citabria or even a Tiger Moth.

The advantage of training in a higher performance aircraft is that it takes you less time to get to the practice area and then it takes far less time to climb back to height after each height reducing manoeuver. The disadvantage is that each manoeuver does not take much time, so you dont really get to see your mistakes developing and then have time to remediate....

Welcome to the dark side.

Whilst I very much agree that the Extra is not the best to learn on initially I would not go for one of these aircraft either, some thing like a Stampe, Bulldog or Decathlon will give you a good grounding and have the power that you are not having to climb back up too often. when we were setting up (lancsbarnstormers.co.uk) we looked at a number of aircraft and found something a little more unique in the Ma5 Charger, performs much like the Stampe, quick to climb back up if you need to (get it right and you don't lose the height) and being on a permit we can offer it at C152 prices!
