Ok, it's a film so not strictly a music topic but this is a superb film and I can really recommend watching it. The film is the biography of record producer Joe Meek. A little bit OTT on the odd occasion but overall it's well worth a couple of hours of anyone's time.

Try spotting the future rock stars as the film goes on. And the present day stars playing old rock 'n' rollers as well, for that matter.

Brilliant song Telstar from a man ahead of his time.

In 1980 a Ska band I was in released a version and the Joe Meek appreciation society (membership not many at the time i would think) wrote to us saying it was the best cover of the song they had heard. Well it was 1980!

Still got nowhere though. Theres a bit of it here.

Cheers. That was the bestest fun live band I have been in. You cant help dancing when you play ska. Our album was pretty good too. Bankrolled by Chas Chandler. Also never got anywhere due "musical differences" splitting the band up before release. Ho hum.
