That tape was so thin it was forever breaking - bought one and never again.

They were great for cars! Plus they were used extensively for DJs jingles which made is a pain in the **** recording and splicing them.

I can remember my dad having one in his car and you're right, it was pretty good (for the early 70's)! But otherwise it appears to have similarities to DAT...popular with the industry but never really took off with consumers.

I was given an 8-track as a 15th birthday present and although the player is long gone I still have a collection of Rick Wakeman, ELP, Yes, Floyd, Tull, etc. on 8-track.

What on earth are those things?

I have thought long and hard, asked friends my age - nothing - not a flicker.

They look a bit like those things that they have in the Italian Job (the original) and old Bond films... what did you use them for? Were they before or after minidisks - did you download music of the internet onto them - I don't understand

Back in your box wippersnapper

As it happens I'm currently sat with a box of my old casettes, ripping them with Audacity to use in Traktor and Ableton. :P I'm finding some real old gems of Chicago house music that are over 20 years old.
