I was listening to some really nice violin music by Thomas Linley the younger the other day and the commentator mentioned all the other connections to this young man, including the fact that Mozart really rated him and thought he was cool.....ahem

I reckon the story is reading a bit like an olden day Otis in that we have been robbed of a young bright talent


Then of course there was his dad and sisters and of course Sheridan.


So if you see where I'm going, I'm now I'm searching around for something like an easily digestible biography or guide about this talented family that would lead me into the music more. not that I have any spare time at the mo

I have googled, to no real satisfaction.

I vaguely remember studying him as part of an C18th English Music course at college. IIRC it was reported that he drowned in a boating accident, despite the fact that he could swim, due the the (then) fashionable thigh-length boots he was wearing! Funny the things that stick in the brain. :?
