I find, as I get older, the sight of promenaders old enough to know better cavorting in the front rows very offputting. It's not just the bobbing & dipping, it's the sight of somebody's bank manager in a silly hat, looking like he's pretending to enjoy it.

I like the occasion, always watch it, but the silliness is getting in the way now. Same goes for all the tooting and honking, fortunately we were spared the worst excesses of the Sailors' Hornpipe this year.

As for the front row gits, I can't stand all that "look at me, I'm sooooo whacky and eccentric" shyte exhibited by hat-wearing twonks terrified of the fact that they are deeply dull and conventional. They are the same feggwits who turn out as Monster Raving Loony candidates and honk hooters at Returning Officers.
