This afternoon the server's firewall rules became tangled and malformed. In and outbound access was not possible.
With help from the hosting company, the server problems have been resolved and the sites are now back for you.

Either the ruleset scrambled itself, which *is* possible, but unlikely (and which should be subject to a TAC investigation and resolution), or somebody fat-fingered something. I know where my money is...
