Short certificate lifespan is considered good practice nowadays - and indeed 'Let's Encrypt' won't issue anything longer.
The aspiration is generally to move to weekly certificates using the automated renewal tools available, but need to encourage site admins to implement automated renewal first.

Interesting and probably unrelated but my Firefox, despite updates had been playing up for months: Finally it kept freezing, so I'd had enough: I deleted it and emptied all the caches and chucked in my lot with Google Chrome.

Took some getting used to, so after a month I downloaded Firefox again: Guess what? exactly the same : Hanging, freezing etc so its gone for the second time.

Still don't like Chrome.
