The search function forces you to use longer words than 4 characters and this has several times made it very difficult to search for something.
Today, looking at the recent woes of the e-go aircraft, I wanted to search for past posts on that - there has been some discussions on the viability of the design/project in th past.
Now, if I search for e-go it seems to ignore the hyphen and insist on interpreting it is a search for e and go which fails due to the 4 character rule. If I try to search for "e-go" it doesn't find anything - presumably because it includes the quote marks as the search?
Of course, ego would give lots of false hits (not that I'm saying that there are too many egos on the forum, but... ) but is too short and of course e-go aircraft merely ignores e-go and gives useless results.
I had a bit of fun with e-go canard (posts about restaurants and French cuisine), e-go Cambridge Composite (posts about the Firefly?!) and e-go start-up viability (posts about airfields going under).
So, how I am supposed to search for past threads on the e-go?
I understand the need to not search for words like 'the', 'and' etc., but we should be able to search for an exact phrase in quotation marks ("e-go") and it should also allow us to use hyphens, periods or other punctuation marks without getting confused.
Alternatively, instead of a hamfisted 4 character rule, just ignore the x most commonly used words (which would be unlikely to include "e-go" although they may include "ego")
