changing 'Notifications' settings

Every time I do this, and 'Submit' at the end (duly acknowledged), and logoff, the settings have changed back to the default when I logon again. Only the first ?4 notifications are displayed when I click on the icon, so things I do not want to see are displayed, and I never know what I am missing, which is why I want much less to be 'notified'.
Am I missing a trick ? Can I see beyond those first ?4 somehow ?

What browser/computer/tablet combo are you using?
What settings do you want?

In the context of Notifications, I am using Windows laptop and Firefox browser. I would like Notifications only of like or dislike, or of private messages. For the rest, l am happy with the default email settings, but like and dislike are not emailed

I wonder if there is a wider problem as I can't update all of mine successfully either... need Ed (TKF) too look at it methinks!
