Thanks Mike....a truly sobering story....and so many classic errors/factors that we have all read in accident reports... Hopefully P1 has taken these lessons onboard.... Notwithstanding the fact that he should not have been there in the first place skimming the tops in and out of IMC, TKS deicing protection is available for a Saratoga and an airplane like this requires an IR to get decent utility....I'm sure P1 is busy and lacks time, but it sounds like he has the money for these things...
