Stumbled across this in the Top Gear section above.

Honestly? Does anybody actually buy this kind of thing and make their dog wear them? Dogs have survived for thousands of years by using their instinct to look away from bright sun, just like any mammal does, and then someone comes up with this...

If someone came up with this idea even as recently as the 1990's they'd be ridiculed. Why not now?

Well, I guess so long as Flyer gets its advertising revenue, who gives a terpenny?

Ridiculed? - it's early days; you've only just started the thread....................

Too many people worry about too many things which really don't require worrying about.

I am surprised at the comment regarding small kids - Surely hearing damage is cumulative and the dB level inside of a typical GA aircraft is very high.

It is not just the amount but also the duration of the exposure and the frequency that this happens (as in how often) From the age of 2 or three kids can be taught how to wear a headset and then communicate with the rest of the people in the aeroplane. For kids, before that age, to get permanent hearing damage due to flying in a GA aeroplane it would have to be extremely loud and done often for longer periods of time.

Best ban them from using earphones from their ipod and going to the disco if you are worried about their hearing.

And of course the risk of coming to harm full stop from flying in a small GA aeroplane with a well intending amateur at the helm is many times greater than that from hearing damage.

Whilst we're on the topic, when did dogs start needing to wear coats? And horses for that matter? I'm sure horses used to stand around naked all day, but most now seem to wear coats, and some have taken to wearing socks.
