Funnily enough, your new A/G guy (and refueller) at Dunkeswell [usermention=6657]@Peter Gristwood[/usermention], with whom you saw me yesterday, is a recently retired ATC/radar ATCO from Bristol, as you will know. Chatting to him yesterday, he mentioned that he knew that Bristol had a bad reputation amongst GA. Interesting that, despite being a fully qualified ATCO, he still had to do the exam to become an A/G operator.

Depends how recently retired he was; if it was less than 4 years and he had a C of C in ADV/ADI at Bristol, he should have been given the ROCC for £35 and no exams otherwise having just given up my Examiners authorisation, he would have had to do the exams.
(Name wasn't Julian by any chance?)

A few people are enjoying his presence, he's improving RT generally, and I include myself in that general slur. (and that is not targeted at Peter either in the air or on the ground :D )

Adding to this, Southampton have appeared here with criticism about transits too.

However, I have recently (and twice within the past fortnight) had very efficient, friendly and accommodating transits granted from them. :thumleft:

As I understand it, there if a form available which can be filled in and submitted(?toCAA) if for any reason a transit of a controlled zone is denied for whatever given reason:

Perhaps we, as pilots , are becoming bolder and submitting more of these forms in response to increasing transit denials and we are now seeing the positive effect.

Or perhaps not.

Apart from venting one’s annoyance, Noone thinks that those forms make a difference, do they?
