Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

.. and, of course, an occasional Forumite and former Lister has been (happily stuck ? :) ) down there for a while, in charge of aviation medicine:

T6Harvard wrote:The New Zealand CAA have published some brilliant facts and figures relating to the history of civil aviation over their way.

They are one of the most competent NAA out there with best attitude to GA and brilliant & savvy guys on top: they publish top papers (any aeroplane or gliding instructor did steal some of their illustrations and guides)

You can add:
- If you can drive a car you can fly and get a foreign license validation with email
- FIS/ATC service is relaxed and airspace is empty and scenery is beautiful
- They have a positive attitude to visiting pilots, to gliding, to backcountry
- Implemented RNP approach since 2000 (no LPV/SBAS there)
- Allow GA IFR operations to non-ATS airports on safetycom
- No silly AD restrictions: hig-viz, PPR...

PS: this is not the grass is green elsewhere, if you ever deal with their neighbors from OZCASA you will find that UKCAA is relatively doing a great job

Why the 7th and not the 17th? Flew on December 17th, 2003 over Lake Wanaka and round Mount Aspiring - great place to fly. Read a Richard Pearse and a Wright Brothers biography while we were touring. Saddest part was we ended up staying with the parents of one of the Mount Erebus pilots - they were still suffering nearly 25 years later.
