Report snook out today, from the Entrepreneurs Network. First spotted in summary from the Institution of Engineering and Technology:

The ‘Digitise the Skies’ report suggests that the government would need to fund around £10m worth of upgrades to make the UK’s recreational aircraft electronically visible to drones in order to overcome safety issues. The report also calculates that doing so would “unlock” the UK’s drone economy, which could be worth £42bn by 2030....

I'd not come across the the Entrepreneurs Network, but according to their website they have 'connections':

The Entrepreneurs Network is a think tank for Britain’s most ambitious entrepreneurs.... and are the Secretariat of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Entrepreneurship, which sits across the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Hmmmm.......

If the drone economy is worth that much, then maybe the "drone economy" should get involved and sort out the mess we currently have, they can afford it, but £10M isn't going to fix the problem, not if we are to see all the drones they'll need for £42bn.

The UK’s 20,000 recreational aircraft - which typically operate in the same sub-10,000-feet ‘Class G’ airspace as drones

Drones, 10,000ft!
