Anyone have any idea why Sky Demon dont give safetycom as the airfield frequency at airfields where it's used? Pooleys plates quote the frequency and the Airfield information in EasyVFR gives this too. It seems a fairly big omission in skydemon that one of the critical pieces of information for a trip isn't available from the screen or from the pilot log it produces and isn't available for airfields that you flyby on route if you want to call them up (or just listen in).

If no dedicated frequency is highlighted then Safetycom is the default but it is not allocated to any field by definition.

Taking the first three random airfields on screen that I clicked on in the following picture, all have SafetyCom detailed for use by SkyDemon.

Tracy Island
Melbury
Middle Pymore Farm

Not necessarily it could be the microlight frequency, 129.830. It would be very helpful if Skydemon were to highlight which frequency is used.

Try Watchford Farm and East Chinnock ... or the flight I actually did from Finmere (700m tarmac runway with over 30 based aircraft) to East Kirkby (Museum Landing Strip) ... no frequencies anywhere to be found in Sky Demon.. but they do appear on Pooleys and on EasyVFR..

So in the absence of a quoted frequency, what frequency do you think a person should use ?

Interestingly I have no Pooley's subscription and the sites quoted by @Iceman don't appear on my version of Skydemon :-)

I find the thought of listening in to Safetycom on the remote chance of hearing traffic on the particular muddy strip you are near to a wholly bizarre one. As for calling them up? What would you actually want to say?

Well it’s likely either safetycom or the microlight frequency but I’d rather not have to guess which one when simply populating a field in a piece of software solves the issue and provides the frequencies required in the place they should be in the flight planning software.

Had a guy flying low and close to our field (700m tarmac - hardly a muddy field) called up on safetycom recently when he could see aircraft in the circuit just to let us know he was there - was appreciated. Somewhere like Bicester that’s busy training using safetycom it might be even more relevant.

And that’s not even starting on weather or emergency diversions…

But the point is why not just provide that information- the space is in the program for it, it’s currently just a blank data field. Given the depth of information available throughout the software it seems very odd that airfield frequencies aren’t included for all airfields where known.
