Our strip with its five noise sensitive areas all round gets the majority of its visiting traffic via SkyDemon where they will find contact phone numbers, a plate and email for a briefing supplied by me and ‘created’ by Rob at SD..
Safetycom is not promulgated in the SD entry.
(we are not in Pooleys or others of that ilk)
If the briefing in the first instance is by phone they provide an email address for full noise briefing including self announcing on approach on Safetycom.
This allows the aeromodellers who fly actually on the strip and have a ‘spotter’ with a scanner tuned to SafetyCom to land their models which have a dispensation to fly to 1000ft .
Similarly departing visitors are requested to announce their intentions on safetycom, to avoid tangling with a gaggle of 5+ kg models which would tend to spoil their day .
Seems to work well, apart from a handful per year of unannounced drop-ins. who sometimes seriously mess up but haven’t killed or injured anybody yet
