Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

They have hugely overdone all the moving / dynamic parts. I want to read something, not wait for it to move in from the right / left. If you scroll too fast on some pages you might get a bit motion sick!

Various things appear on top of each other on my phone (image below of the about page). Eg, the LAA logo has white writing below it, and the menu icon is white. On my phone if I scroll down, it stays hovering at the top over the page content, so you have white writing hovering over black text which has a white background.

There is obviously a broken image on that page too, and a huge amount of blank space. Hopefully they are still refining it. Various other things, such as sponsors details are too small, random text at the beginning of Roger'sname

I will say, you do now need to make all websites mobile accessible, as most web content is consumed on mobile devices - be it phone or tablet, and it performs quickly on my PC and phone.

Why does everything have to be? Most people will be looking for information, forms, etc, while at home rather than when out and about.

Because over 50% of internet access is now via mobile devices, and if we want any hope of accessing the sub 40 year old market, it needs to be mobile friendly. Besides, I've accessed the old one for guidance whilst in the hangar, at it was a pain!

As it was before the change it wasn't perfect but it all worked and was relatively easy to find your way around.
So why is there always this seemingly obsession to keep changing things that work!
My theory is that there is far too many developers and programmers in the world and they have to keep changing and altering things to justify their existance!

With my professional web designer hat on I am slightly flummoxed. The home page looks inviting, but the quick links on the left look like the menu, whereas the actual menu is a link - to a page with loads of sections and subsections that you still have to click to get to. Bit of a mess to me - there are easier ways to design this so that the menu drops down on the home page itself.

Steve Morley won't mind me showing you this one I designed: http://blackbusheaviation.com/

Lots of info and subsections (Ok not as many as on the LAA site) and all optimised for mobile and/or desktop.

When building a site you actually build two sites, one design is for small screens and one is for desktops and tablets - the browser decides what view to show you.

You then don't get all that over use of white space and tiny images on a mobile version (or that annoying logo that is pinned to the top of the page and takes up a ton of space on the header with the white subhead barely visible)...

Still it may be WIP. It better be as the site isn't https and is still http as well.

The old one was clunky to navigate. At first pass this looks better, but I've not looked very far yet. On my PC, it looks better and seems to function as required.

It may be that it is WIP; some links bring the old pages.

Old farts: the forum is unchanged.

If you click on the menu (top right, circle with three horizontal lines), it takes you to a new page with all the old headings where you can choose where to go. If you login, it's the same old login page and you can get to the old member area.

So it's a shiny new front end (effectively) sat on the old website.
