My lesson for today; because we learn something new every day.

It seems that one of the ATIS frequencies for Heathrow is SFD DVOR.

Just seems very odd to be identing SFD listening to EGLL weather. I’ve used SFD a lot in the past and don’t recall hearing this before. It is however listed as one of their ATIS frequencies. But why? Back up to the other frequencies?

Easier to get from further out back in the days before ACARS is what I was always told. Of course it might be ****.

I did not know that one but Clacton VOR has Stansted ATIS, which comes handy for arriving to North Weald, you should hear it all the way 150nm from France/Belgium :D

113.75 BVD (DOC 60nm) and 117.00 SFD (DOC 70NM) and 128.080 (DOC 60NM) are Arrival ATIS.

121.835 (DOC 5NM) is Departure ATIS.

Too much information for one frequency and longer ranger for inbound planning.

Also available as a Digital ATIS Broadcast on ARINC/SITA Services as well.

There is stil a need to allow for non 25KHz equipped Government Flights that are not required to have 8.33 until 2025.

@AndyR - yes! I heard that the other day and, as we are in the midst of radio woes, thought it was connected to those somehow. Now I know it’s not just me …
