The pilot was already out of the light aircraft when it crashed.

I managed to read through it without accepting cookies. You are right one cannot decline cookies.

Well from the fact that the journalist tells us the pilot got out of the aircraft before the crash I'm guessing he just forgot to set the autopilot before jumping out.
The pilot was already out of the light aircraft when it crashed
But we shouldn't speculate and just wait for...
