A week later, she received a notice of investigation from the FAA, where she had worked for 28 years as a safety manager.

...since her divorce from Ebby Lunken, whose family the airport was named after. They remained friends until he died, but she says their marriage began to deteriorate after he lost interest in flying.

That last bit is a classic. Along the lines of the old "Hubby said it was him or the cat. Shame, really, he was a nice guy."

Having to take a test again sounds a bit strange. It's not her ability which is in question, it's her judgement. I suppose that's the FAA for you.

The think the DVLA have something similar for new drivers these days doesn't it?

At least she's going to get flying again I hope.

Maybe the faa were looking at it in the wrong direction. Perhaps she was safely managing and assessing the situation herself :)
