what a really positive post :)

As the C42 guys have discovered, the UK really is a fantastic place to fly with at least 1500 landing sites available for a microlight, LAA or suitable STOL types. Microlights and LAA permit aircraft make it so affordable too with owner maintenance as far as your comfortable and plenty of specialists for the bigger jobs. When you're paying maybe £30/hr wet you can charge off for the day or a few days with your pals and wont break the bank if you rack up 10+ hours of flying to exotic locations off the beaten track.

Our Eurostar gang generally tours around in lose-formations and its a very sociable hobby with flying for pure fun at its core. Last year I visited 85 strips and fields enjoying fantastic flying adventures from Lands End to Glenforsa with pals in BMAA/LAA types - many strips cost a £5 donation to the grass cutting fund in lieu of a landing fee. We generally take a stove too for bacon sarnies and breakfasts, it runs on unleaded so comes out our fuel drain (AAIB - 'the aircraft ran out of fuel after the crew cooked breakfast for ten'...).

Of course, all aeroplanes are a compromise and you may wish to fly IFR, do aerobatics or take your family and your dog, cat, Komodo Dragon etc. But if you generally fly on your own or with one pax and haven't thought about microlighting or LAA flying then find someone and have a go - there's a fantastic new world of exciting and affordable flying adventures out there with like-minded flyers.

Have fun out there :)

Just got round to setting up a Google account and starting a map, it's quite relaxing just putting an airport name in a search box and clicking "add" :D

I've got quite a few to do though and some of them are quite a long way off and I'll bet others on here have been further than me :D

This intrigues me so...
I would be interested to hear exactly what sort of cooking stove runs on Mogas?

Google Coleman :thumright:

But will that run on Mogas?
Briefly checked the blurb and it says it ideally runs on Camping Gas, but can run on Kerosene....In other words Paraffin!...not petrol.

This one will run on unleaded fuel.
