The form to use in order to report access issues is FCS1522.

Stampe wrote:“I (and many other local pilots) cannot risk infringement action so avoid the airspace when ATC is closed.”

That sadly sums up the febrile atmosphere created by current incumbents of the dreadful CAA.
Chevron the CAA actively withhold any evidence that might aid an alleged infringers defence. This is a well established fact and a major reason that trust between the GA and ATC communities has broken down! Stampe

You have every right to see a transcript of the RTF for the time of the alleged incident - sure they won't let you listen to the tape itself, that is kept at the airfield but the CAA go to the airfield and transcribe the RTF for incidents of any sort.

An excellent suggestion rdfb and a form that I have used in the past.It is of course dependant on the fact that this form is ever even looked at.Many suspect it is just a frustration venter for GA pilots.Sadly it appears no one is batting for GA in this country in the “establishment”.

Just a thought:

@G-BLEW - has anyone approached the Manager of ATS at Cardiff? It may be easier to find out what the actual, unit specific issue and policy is.

Yes, I have had comms from someone who has done just that. Will ask if I can post the result here. I have yet to get a reply from the CAA, but will chase that and Cardiff after Christmas.

If it turns out that the form is never looked at, what we should do is arrange for a representative organisation to fill in the form on behalf of pilots, take a copy, and compile statistics on the copies. Then we'd end up with the stats, too, and that information could be used to justify seeking further action.

One of the noble Lords asked a minister how many FCS1522 where received by the CAA in 2019. There have been 7 in 12 months. So read or not read easily discussed away as insignificant by regulator and ANSP. (Except if all at the same ansp in the same trimester )

If only people filed at least as many as complaining comments on here.

My attitude changes a little then. To "if you can't be bothered to file, don't bother complaining on here" :(

As one of the few ‘custodians’ of the biggest CTR in the British Isles from SFC-FL80 and 60x40nm across I am saddened to see this apparent lack of pragmatism to CAS.

I hope it gets sorted.

I’ve just read that they have agreed to revert their airspace to Class G, whenever they are not open for radar service.
