The Hurricane was definitely responsible for more kills than the Spitfire, but that may to some extent be down to a strategy of mostly sending Hurricanes after the bombers, and Spitfires after the fighters.

Great detail where the yellow nosed ba$tard strafs the Spit wing, and if I'm not mistaken, Sunny Swift had a cameo role.

.. and 'battle damage' was more likely to be survivable and then more swiftly reparable. A bullet or cannon shell might well go through a wood/tube+fabric part of the structure of a Hurricane without hitting anything 'vital', whereas an equivalent hit on a stressed skin monocoque part of a Spitfire might instantly create an unsurvivable weakness in the airframe. Even if the latter got back to base, metalwork repairs took longer and required scarcer tools and craftspeople's skills than fabric ones.
