A few:
  • Sully
  • Battle of Britain
  • Memphis Belle
  • Dark Blue World (BoB with Czech & Slovak pilots)
  • The Great Waldo Pepper
  • Always (Airborne Fire Fighting; RomCom with Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss)
  • Top Gun (at least for the filming not the story!)
  • The Aviator (Leo dC as Howard Hughes)
  • Cloud Dancer (David Carradine as a Pitts pilot)
  • Deadly Encounter (Larry Hagman; awful film with some fun helicopter flying)
  • American Made (Tom Cruise caper)
  • Flight of the Phoenix (Two versions - original w Jimmy Stewart, Richard Attenborough and Hardy Kruger is the better)
  • Strategic Air Command (Jimmy Stewart again. Impressive B-36 footage)

You often get aviation themed films on daytime Freeview TV channels eg Ch81 'Talking Pictures' and 'Sony Movie Classics' Ch50 plus occasional features on 'Yesterday' Ch20, 'Smithsonian' Ch 57 and 'Forces TV' Ch 96.
Examples are:-
'Appointment in London',
'Reunion at Fairborough',
'Cone of Silence',
'633 Squadron' and 'Mosquito Squadron',
'The War Lover'.
