Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

There are various potentially useful links from the LAA-YES page, here:

[Several of these owe much to Aunty Leia :thumright: ]

.. as, of course, will aircraft museums .. :)

[and museums may have 'outreach' teams who will visit schools and youth groups. We at JAM certainly do, including several trained 'STEM Ambassadors']

First of two sessions successfully delivered last night. Marshaling worked a treat with ping pong bats, as did looking at a chart and phonetics over a phone between two groups. Balloon helicopters very fiddly, will replace with paper planes (or para eggs!) for next session.
Had to adhoc a headwind/tailwind/ drift explanation walking around the room.
The look on their faces when seeing all of the A/C in the area on FR24 whilst listening to their comms was priceless.

Thanks for the ideas & input!!!

“just about to go in the bin” ??? :o

If no one else wants it, are you near Cambridge?

I am much further north than Cambridge but the weight of it makes it impractical to post due the cost.

For others who might be approached to help beavers/Cubs/Scouts, the current syllabus for their Air Activities "Staged Activity Badge" is on the Scouts web site at https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/4280/air-activities-staged-activity-badge/?cat=12,67,777&moduleID=10

As Kanga noted earlier in this thread (https://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=113710&start=15#p1723900 ), YES - the Youth and Education Support strut of the LAA - are very keen to support and encourage all ways of inspiring the next generation into the world of aviation, and there is useful information on our YES web site http://yesflyers.org.uk/home/ .

I happen to be on the YES Committee , and we are always looking for volunteers, support and sponsorship for all our activities. If you could help YES, or if YES could help you, or if you know someone who could be interested, please contact us via e-mail to our Chairman at captainluck "at" hotmail.com.

Here on the Flyer Forum there is much wringing of hands about the implications of the age profile and demographic trend of the UK GA population. Why not join YES and help do something to encourage the next generation of GA pilots!
