Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

That sounds like the Ortex marketing statements but does it stand scrutiny?

I was building in a rented hangar where spraying wasn't permitted and I'm not a fan of breathing MEK vapours.
So I got the lightest possible finish (which CEA Robin use on new DR series Robins).
The finish is a little translucent, but I've had nothing but complementary remarks.
Here she is on the way back from Oshkosh last weekend:

I like oratex.
It appeals to my inner engineer.
However, I can't help feel that they have priced it up to a point where it seems cheaper when compared to having a professional paint job done.
I've assumed (having seriously considered it) that the profit margin is huge.
Of course, one must not assume

If it is, well done chaps for finally saving her.

G AWSP.

I sprayed my finish myself.
On G AWEI I deliberately sprayed two light coats of red to allow for it to go flat over time, and then I’d blow it over with a third coat to restore the finish.
But the red was still glossy years later.

WEI was covered in DTD 575A cotton.
