Can anyone tell me how to turn on 8.33 on the Yaesu 250L. I cannot even seem to find it in the manual

Yes I was highly dis-chuffed when I switched mine on and found it would not tune an 8.33 frequency and I'm one of those sad people who read instruction manuals.
I eventually found it if course but should it be buried in such an obscure place in the manual? Surely it would be better if they included an extra page saying 'This equipment is set to default 25 kHz channel spacing; if you wish to use 8.33 kHz spacing ...etc'.

Do people here think this is a good alternative to the Sporty's SP-400, which cannot transmit on 8.33 frequencies?

Are there any other handheld transceivers with NAV/ILS out there?

If you want Nav, look at the 550. If you want full ILS, the 750.

The Icom range is also worth a look.

The Yeasu 250 is adequate for many VFR pilot's needs as well as being a lot cheaper than the equivalent ICOM. I was an ICOM fan (since 1986 when I bought one to use in the Moni) until I compared the prices.
It's also more compact as the battery is at the back rather than underneath as with the ICOM.
