Scam alert

Hi

We are getting reports of advertisers receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from their bank.

The caller is suggesting that Flyer/Seager Publishing has taken 12 fraudulent payments from their account. The advertiser is invited to provide bank details so that the bank can ‘change the codes’.

Needless to say this is a phishing scam!

Thanks

Ian

Ian,

We've been 'phished' by these scammers this morning. London accent purporting to be from Yakovlevs' online bank, investigating 13 unsolicited payment taken by Flyer. Not overly convincing, but thanks for the heads-up.

Suspect their MO is to buy magazines and start ringing the advertisers.

We had a call from “Barclays” who we don’t bank with but they named the previous owner who did.
