I suspect its built to handle a little more than a barrel roll.... :o

No doubt but I can’t believe the manufacturer expected it to be rolled.

Slight overexhuberance on the part of the pilot I guess.

I wonder if he’ll get a Christmas card

Peter

As this is a test flight by one of the manufacturer's test pilots, and they shared the video - I suspect that you may be mistaken.

Quite the reason for Forger's roll I don't know either, but it seems planned.

Concorde was also rolled ( 2.58 mins in video)

Along with Tex Johnson rolling a Boeing 707.

Theres a rumour going around that more recently a Vulcan was rolled, but it been done in the past (30secs in video)

If its done correctly you will only apply approx 1g

That's nuthin'.

George Kennedy barrel-rolled Concorde whilst simultaneously firing a Very pistol out of the side window to decoy a heat-seeking missile. :D

Oops, my mistake. That one was a loop.

A Vulcan was also looped. I suspect most of the “barrel rolls” referred to above were actually “ballistic rolls”.

The X-29 was also rolled (in this case an aileron roll) very early on in flight testing. Chuck Sewell, the Grumman chief test pilot was “removed” as NASA were unhappy about this bit of unauthorised envelope expansion.
