We had a youngish airline pilot visiting the JAM Trident not long ago. He proudly told me about his all-glass cockpit, without even analogue standby ASI and altimeter. I pointed out the (tiny!) compass in the Trident cockpit roof panel, and asked whether his cockpit still had one of those. He conceded that it did. When I pointed out that all he really needed to navigate was that, a stopwatch, and a chart, he looked rather scared ..
