Brrrrrrrr, it’s going to be a cold one this weekend. Watch for falling freezing levels and some heavy showers. But for most of us there will be some flying to be found.

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST

SATURDAY
---------------
A cold day ahead in an Arctic Maritime airmass. Showers will be affecting western, northern and eastern coasts and hills. In-between the weather will be fine with good spells of sunshine.
A tendency for the showers to become heavier and more persistent along eastern coasts in the afternoon as the wind turning more northeasterly. At the same time western areas should see fewer showers.
The showers will be wintry on hills as far south as Wales.
Winds mainly N-NE 20-25kt (F6) but to 35kt (F8) on exposed coasts. Feeling bitterly cold in the wind.



SUNDAY
-----------
The flow is more northeasterly on Sunday as a ridge of high pressure builds over Ieland and into Scotland.
A trough will be passing southwest through the UK birnging heavy showers or longer spells of rain to eastern coasts of England with a few showers in eastern Scotland.
A further trough aligned NE-SW could affect the Channel. This brings showers or longer spells of rain to southeast England and the Channel areas.
Mainly dry with good spells of sunshine elsewhere, the best sunshine always in the west.
Winds NE 25-30kt (F7) in southeast England, NE 20-25kt (F6) in much of the rest of England and eastern Wales, NE 12-15kt (F4) in western wales, northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
