Primarily for general aviation discussion, but other aviation topics are also welcome.

I’m moving to the Aberdeen area in the next couple of months as my wife has got a flying job based out of Aberdeen I and was wondering what the General Aviation scene is like in the area. I would like to make contact with some flyers in the area and get involved if possible. I’ll be work abroad quite a bit but will be back there for up to a month at time, so getting involved with some local flyers might keep me sane. Ideally would like to get a share in something, preferably a taildragger up that way if possible.

Many thanks,
Simon

Two places to look at and definitely visit. Insch (https://www.gmfc-insch.co.uk/)and Longside (http://www.buchanaeroclub.co.uk/Buchan_ ... lcome.html). That link to Insch, it's not just microlights, there is also a good GA contingent.
I think there is some small activity at Whiterashes but perhaps just private owners, not a club as such.
There is also some GA at Dyce, but from your post I'm guessing that is maybe not what you are after.

Here are 2 more sites within reach of Aberdeen:

Easterton, 4m S of Elgin. Highland Gliding Club plus some LAA aircraft. Very friendly club. Winch & aerotow. Mainly weekends.

Aboyne, 25m W of Aberdeen. Deeside Gliding Club, mainly gliding, fantastic soaring conditions. Aerotow only.

Why not try flight without power?
