.. why the name 'Kanga', is it short for Kangaroo ?

Why Kanga? ISTR it had something to do with midwifery duties (Kanga was known for being a very motherly marsupial) in the past?

Obliquely. It was while I was a paramedic (with duties including midwifery) that I started my civil flying training. The flying club, where Lefty also learnt (a bit later) then had 3 aircraft; the one not pictured hereunder had registration CF-ROO (which needed quite a lot of 'mothering')
