Apropos of blurring the identification, it used to be done mandraulically rather than electronically. Many years ago I recall a Viscount ending up in a field in the west country due to some confusion regarding fuel being delivered in lbs, kilos, ig, usg or litres (or maybe it was bushels). A TV reporter was despathed to site and duly did his piece to camera while in the background a painter up a ladder with a roller was furiously painting out the airline name.
I can almost hear the prospective station manager’s answer to the interview question about immediate action in the event of a major incident involving a company a/c.
