Heads up for those interested;
Next year marks 100 years since the guns fell silent. Obviously it will be a very poignant occasion. I go to Ypres quite often and rank it as one of the most welcoming places I know for the English to holiday.
So, anticipating Wipers being rammed, i took the decision to book our hotel room early at Novotel Ypres which is a stone's throw from the Gate.
Well, we managed to book the nights of 9th/10th, leaving 11th, including breakfast for two adults and two children for a really amazing 145 euros.
I checked the price 3 times with the Accor booking agent as it seemed wrong but, it was right. I had anticipated the price being this, plus more for each night given how crowded the town will be.
So, for anyone considering going, book now. i simply cannot see the prices staying at that level or indeed rooms being available as the coach tour operators hoover them up.
Hope to see some of you there? Perhaps a forumite get-together?
