And the currently unnamed* gentleman sitting in the Hurricane cockpit is another, Robert Stanford Tuck.

* have taken it upon myself to email the BBC and suggest they might like to acknowledge RST in the article.

What a sense of irony:

Ginger signs up and becomes a Battle of Britain ace downing 28 German aircraft making a once truly Great Britain, only to be remembered by a plaque displayed on a German supermarket in a Britain that now has no direction. :(

Love the comment from the daughter about the parachute jump:

It's the third scariest thing I've done in my life, behind going on Mastermind and showing my dog around the Crufts arena.

He also used to fly Auster J/1N G-AHHH which I also had the fortune to fly in some years ago (not with him though...the then owner. Hugh Jones).

I know Min quite well ..

She was also one of a pair on Pointless, and the Captain of an Only Connect team ('Archers Admirers') which lost in a semifinal to the eventual winners in a series. They lost when the teams were equal in the final, and the decider was a Captains-only 'sudden death'. ISTR Min was first to buzz but got it wrong .. Incidentally, winning team included a current gyro pilot.

She was good enough to lend a few of Ginger's things for JAM to photograph for the BoB 75th (but now permanent) exhibition on 501 (County of Gloucester) Sqn RAuxAF, with whom Ginger flew in Battle of France and BoB. These included significant entries in his logbook. :thumright:

I met him once, when Dad was in the RAF and Ginger was a guest in the Mess one evening. He told me a few tales, my favourite being that if everyone who said that they had flown in the Battle of Britain had actually done so, there wouldn't have been space for them all in the sky
