Unf, by the time my JAA licence expires, I will be out of medical on missing an appointment scheduled for yesterday, ironically, because I fell ill.
The next available appointment will be a couple of days after expiration of my JAA licence early next year and I see, for some reason known only to regulators, I need a current medical to apply for the conversion.
I have checked the CAA website and performed general searches, but can't seem to find anything specific about converting to an EASA licence when one's current licence has expired. However, I can't believe that EASA/CAA have not implemented some additional futile barrier when one's license has expired - because they can.
Does anyone know if there is anything else required when converting from an expired licence - can it even be done?
Yes, I should have prepared earlier, if for nothing other than the time it takes for the CAA to turn things around. However, as I won't be flying until April (work commitments mainly), I am in no rush..
Thanks in advance
